Proxomitron is a very flexible web filtering proxy that can modify web pages by using regular expressions. This allows you to remove advertisements, change the looks, and add new functionalities to web pages among other things.

JD500 and Grypen are Proxomitron users who have created enhanced sets of filters that you can load into Proxomitron.

Proxomitron Configuration Manager is a program I made to collect various filters into a database.

The Hosts file is a list of domains and their associated IP addresses. This works like a telephone directory for the internet, located locally on your computer. By updating this file so that the IP addresses of known advertisers no longer point to their own servers (e.g. by pointing it at your own computer’s IP address), ads won’t get retrieved. A sample hosts file can be found here.

Hosts Manager is a program I have made to manage the hosts file.
